The theme for the meeting will be Colony Health. A full day’s program has been planned, with special guest speakers:
The invited feature speaker will be Dr. Dewey M. Caron, University of Delaware. Dr. Caron will review the latest information on CCD (Colony Collapse Disorder) as well as review his career as apiculturist at the University. This will also serve as a meet & greet opportunity for speakers and participants.
Other speakers include Jennifer Berry of Georgia, who will discuss the basics of breeding bees for mite tolerance overall productivity, Janet Brisson, Country Rubes, Grass Valley, California, who will discuss the application of organic gardening principals to colony management and using screened bottom boards and powered sugar dusting techniques, and Dr. Larry Connor, who will discuss colony management for healthy bees. Special efforts will be made to reach new and hobby beekeepers who do not have extensive experience with keeping their bees healthy and alive!
