Central Beekeepers Alliance Meeting
Agricultural Research Centre, Fredericton, NB
7:30 p.m.
Want to learn more about Beekeeping? Central Beekeepers meet on the second Tuesday of the month. Visitors and new beekeepers are always welcome!
Most meetings include an educational session, group discussion, or hands-on demonstration for the benefit of beginning beekeepers in central New Brunswick.
The Agricultural Research Centre (”Experimental Farm”) is located at 850 Lincoln Road, Fredericton, New Brunswick. Entry is from the parking lot at the back of the building, at door “B”.
For a map to the Agricultural Research Centre, see our Next Meeting page.

We have recently bought and renovated (MAJOR) a small, 4 acre “farm” in St Martins…it has an old established apple orchard, wild flower field and bush with a stream, as well as newly established flower and vegetable gardens…I would like to set up a hive this spring and introduce a colony, mostly for the bees and if they give a bit of honey and wax…bonus!
I have never had bees and want to research it further to ensure I can properly care for them.
That said, Fredricton is a 5 hour round trip for me to attend your meetings! Are there beekeepers in this vicinity that I can discuss this venture with before I proceed?
Hi Kate, it’s great to hear you’re thinking of getting into bees — and we’d love to see you at a CBA meeting, any time! That said, yes, it is a long way to come for a meeting.
I understand that there are beekeepers active in the Charlotte County area and you might be able to connect with one of them. Your best bet there would be to get in touch with the provincial association (http://www.nbba.ca) and see if they can pass your contact info along to a beekeeper who’s a bit nearer to your home. Or maybe a beekeeper from the St. Martins area / southern New Brunswick will read your message here and leave a reply, you never know!
And perhaps, if we have a field day this spring, as we sometimes do when there are enough new beekeepers to warrant it, you might think about joining us in the Fredericton area for some hands-on beekeeping.
Better yet, you should drop a note to Fletcher Colpitts, our provincial Chief Apiary Inspector, at carnica@nbnet.nb.ca and tell him that you’re thinking of getting into bees and want to learn more, preferably firsthand! He’s always a great help to NB beekeepers.
